Serving yet another blow to the ruling Mamata Banerjee government, employees of a private channel have filed a police complaint naming Tiranamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh and three others on Thursday.
Employees of Channel 10 filed a First Investigation Report (FIR) in Park street police station on Thursday night over non-payment of their salaries pending since February 2013.
The complaint also names Saradha Group's media head Somnath Dutta and other senior employees from the organisation along with Sudipto Sen, the Saradha chief.
This is the seventh case to be registered against the Saradha group of companies.
Already in neck deep trouble, Mamata Banerjee will have to deal with the new crisis since this is the first time a TMC MP has been booked under FIR.
Ever since Sudipto Sen's controversial letter to CBI was leaked, two prominent names of TMC - MPs Kunal Ghosh and Srinjoy Bose - have been doing the rounds.
Saradha Group chief Sudipto Sen even alleged that the TMC MPs only pushed him into the media business since they run the 'Pratidin' news venture.
Saradha's two other media houses - Tara TV and Bengal Post newsdaily - have also faced similiar circumstances of non-payment of salaries before being shut down..
Meanwhile, fearing similar outcome SEBI has turned its attention to similar private companies running ponzi schemes.
One such company is the Rose Valley Group, which has sought the CM's protection stating it has assets close to ₹10,000 crore and is in capacity to pay off its investors.
However, depositors were seen queuing infront of several agencies seeking their money fearing the Saradha outcome.
