Yash-starrer Santhu Straight Forward and Upendra and Sudeep's Mukunda Murari have performed well in the first weekend at the Karnataka box office. Both the movies have made good collections in three days in the state.
Santhu Straight Forward was released in over 240 screens in Karnataka. The Kannada movie opened to mixed reviews, but the film has enjoyed good viewership in theatres across the state. The film had collected a little over Rs 3 crore on the opening day and the producer himself confirmed the news to International Business Times India a few days ago.
"We are happy with the response and delighted to see the movie doing well in not just in Bengaluru but also in rural places. Despite several electronic media giving negative publicity, Santhu Straight Forward has done well," K Manju told IBT India. Now, the trade experts are expecting the movie to have grossed over Rs 8.3 crore in three days.
On the other hand, Mukunda Murari started off on a slow note, but the positive word-of-mouth has boosted the business of the Kannada film. The movie had good occupancy rates in theatres on Saturday and Sunday.
The trade experts are predicting that both the movies will do well on Monday and Tuesday, considering Deepavali and Kannada Rajyotsava holidays.
Santhu Straight Forward features real-life couple Yash and Radhika Pandit, who will tie the knot next year, in the leads. Mahesh Rao-directorial is an action-romantic film, which is said to be inspired by Tamil movie Vaalu.
On the other hand, Mukunda Murari is directed by Nanda Kishore. Upendra and Sudeep's film is a Kannada remake of Bollywood's hit movie Oh My God.
