Yash and Radhika Pandit-starrer Santhu Straight Forward has entered the profit zone at the box office. But the collection of the Kannada movie is not up to the mark due to the demonetisation.
Santhu Straight Forward was released on the occasion of Deepavali festival and clashed with biggie Mukunda Murari, which starred Upendra and Sudeep in the leads. Despite facing huge competition, the Yash's flick managed to perform better than its competitor.
However, the collection of the movie significantly dropped after Narendra Modi's central government decided to demonetise Rs 500 and 1000 notes with short notice.
"Santhu Straight Forward has been badly affected by demonetisation. We were expecting Rs 10 crore profit from the film. But the movie ended up giving only a few crores as profit for us. Nonetheless, we are happy because the nation is heading in the right direction," producer K Manju tells International Business Times.
He adds, "Demonetisation is aimed at curbing black money and we fully support it. We may have suffered losses, but it is for the good for the nation. People at large will benefit from the decision. So, I am happy with it."
The movie had raked in about Rs 3 crore on the first day and grossed close to Rs 10 crore in the first weekend. Santhu Straight Forward ended its first week at Rs 13.5 crore.
Santhu Straight Forward features real-life couple Yash and Radhika Pandit, who will tie the knot on December 9, in the leads. Mahesh Rao-directorial is an action-romantic film.
It was released in about 240 screens. Now, it is being played in limited number of screens across the state.
