The craze for Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanju has not seemed to die down as it continued its brilliant run at the worldwide box office in its fifth weekend, taking its 31-day total closer to Rs 600 crore mark.
The biopic on Sanjay Dutt has continued to keep the cash registers ringing even in its fifth week. Sanju has collected Rs 2.47 crore net at the Indian box office in its fifth weekend, taking its 31-day total collection to Rs 339.75 crore nett. The gross total stands at Rs 435.81 crore in the domestic market. It has shattered the lifetime record of Tiger Zinda Hai to become the fourth highest grossing Hindi movie of all time in India.
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Sanju crosses *lifetime biz* of #TigerZindaHai... Now FOURTH HIGHEST GROSSING *Hindi* film... Chasing #PK *lifetime biz* now... [Week 5] Fri 45 lakhs, Sat 87 lakhs, Sun 1.15 cr. Total: ₹ 339.75 cr. India biz. ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER."
Sanju needs to collect Rs 1.05 crore to beat the record of PK, which is the highest grossing movie for Rajkumar Hirani. The Ranbir Kapoor starrer has been screened in over 150 theatres at key foreign markets, even in its fifth week. Sanju is estimated to have collected approximately Rs 1.25 crore gross at the overseas box office in its fifth week and its international total has reached Rs 148.20 crore gross in 31 days. It is to be seen whether it would cross the Rs 150 crore gross mark in the overseas market.
Sanju has collected a total of Rs 584.01 crore gross at the worldwide box office in 31 days and has become the ninth-highest grossing Indian movie of all time in the global market. The movie is set to beat the records of Padmaavat (Rs 585 crore) and Sultan (Rs 584.4 crore) to secure the seventh spot. Critics expect the film to cross Rs 600 crore mark at the global box office by the next week.
