Ranbir Kapoor's Sanju has crossed Rs 330 crore net mark at the domestic box office in 25 days, inching closer to beat the lifetime box office collection of PK and Tiger Zinda Hai (TZH).
After Soorma, Sanju clashed with other big-ticket release Dhadak in its fourth week and the latter forced it out of many cinema halls. The Sanjay Dutt biopic saw a steep decline in its box office collection on the fourth Friday but still witnessed a decent growth in the domestic market over the following days.
Sanju has collected Rs 7.5 crore net at the domestic box office in four days of its fourth week, taking its 25-day collection to Rs 334.8 net, with a gross total of Rs 428.6 crore. Trade analyst Sumit Kadel tweeted, "#Sanju Was ROCK STEADY on its 4th Monday at the box office. - Fri 1.28 cr, Sat 2.19 cr, Sun 3.28 cr, Mon 1.25 cr Total: ₹ 334.80 cr nett. India biz. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Sanju has already smashed the lifetime collection record of Padmaavat (Rs 302.15 crore) in the domestic market and become the highest grossing Bollywood movie of 2018. The Ranbir Kapoor-starrer has also beaten the lifetime record of Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs 320.34 crore net) and become the fifth highest grossing Hindi film of all time.
Based on the life of actor Sanjay Dutt, the movie depicts some of the controversial episodes of the 58-year-old actor's life, including his involvement in the 1993 Mumbai bombings and conviction, as well as his drug addiction and the many rumoured relationships he had.
Considering its current pace of collection, Sanju is likely to beat two more records set by Aamir Khan's PK (Rs 340.80 crore) and Salman Khan's Tiger Zinda Hai (Rs 339.16 crore). The movie needs to collect Rs 6 crore net at the domestic box office to shatter these records. The film clashes with new releases Nawabzaade and Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 in its fourth week.
Here is the list of all-time highest grossing Hindi movies in the domestic markets. These numbers are based on various reports. All the collection figures are in INR crores.
