Filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala had plans to remake Telugu blockbuster film "Magadheera" in Hindi, but was not able to finalise a director and that delayed the project. However, looks like the film will go on floors soon, as the producer has found the right person to direct the film.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is riding high on the success of "Bajirao Mastani," will helm the Hindi version of Telugu blockbuster film "Magadheera," directed by SS Rajamouli. The Telugu film, which featured Ram Charan Teja and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles, is based on reincarnation.
Sanjay is known for his love for lavish sets, big romance, searing passion and drama will don the director's hat again for the movie. "It was felt by the producers that no director but Sanjay could do justice to the epic scale of Magadheera. The film's budget is expected to be approximate '120 crore, which is higher than what Bhansali's last epic drama Bajirao Mastani cost," a source told DNA.
Sajid had purchased the remake rights of "Magadheera" in 2014 and had announced that Shahid Kapoor will play the lead role in the Hindi remake of the film. Sajid was initially supposed to direct the film, after original director SS Rajamouli refused to lead the project. Later, there were reports that Abhishek Kapoor would be directing the film, but now Sanjay will be the one.
Meanwhile, Shahid and Sanjay will team up for the first time for the Hindi remake of "Magadheera." And now, since the director and lead actor have been confirmed, speculations around the lead actress will start doing the rounds soon.
