The Sanjay Dutt biopic is in pre-production stage. While Ranbir Kapoor was pulled on board long ago, the makers are yet to finalise the leading lady.
In the past few days, there have been strong murmurs that the Kapoor lad will reunite with ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif in the film, but director Rajkumar Hirani has denied any such development. "This news is not all true. I am yet to cast an actress for the film," BollywoodLife quoted him as saying.
So will Deepika Padukone join him instead? This is a possibility because a few months ago sources claimed that the "Bajirao Mastani" actress has been approached to play Ranbir's love interest in the biopic. Kangana Ranaut is another name associated with the project.
The film requires Ranbir to go through a drastic physical transformation, which he is yet to achieve (his recent photos do not show a weight gain). "I still don't know how much I will have to pile on. When me and Raju sir sit down for discussion, maybe we will talk about it and I would know exactly how much weight I have to gain," he had told DNA.
In the words of the writers (Rajkumar and Abhijat Joshi), the film will not glorify Sanjay. Hirani told the Indian Express that "underworld" wasn't something he enjoys writing about and so settled with the emotional side of the actor's (Sanjay) life.
Kareena Kapoor Khan may play sister to Ranbir and Amitabh Bachchan the father. Because there has been no official announcement yet, this can, at best, be considered a speculation.
