Here's some good news for the viewers of Star Plus' "Diya Aur Baati Hum." The popular show, which was supposed to go off air on Aug.15, has reportedly got an extension. According to reports, the show will continue to entertain viewers for another month, and is likely to continue until mid-September.
The channel may also consider extending it further if the show's ratings improve in the next couple of months. "This does not stop the makers from adding interesting tracks. The show has had a great run, and there is also a likelihood of it getting further extensions if there is an increase in the ratings in the next few months," a source told Tellychakkar.com.
It was earlier reported that "Diya Aur Baati Hum" was going off air owing to the constant drop in its ratings. Also, the frequent tantrums of the lead actors, Deepika Singh (Sandhya) and Anas Rashid (Sooraj), was apparently another reason, which forced the makers to mull over pulling it off. However, it appears that the popularity of the show has led the channel to continue it for a few more weeks.
Meanwhile, in an attempt to improve the ratings, the makers have penned down an interesting sequence, which will see Sooraj recovering from paralysis. In the story ahead, Sandhya would be seen experiencing labour pains while making sweets with Sooraj inside a locked room. As Sooraj would be unable to help her, Sandhya would call out to Bhabo (Neelu Vaghela) for help. However, with the door being closed, Sandhya effort would go in vain and Sooraj would get restless seeing his wife in pain. He would then make an effort to stand up from the wheelchair and open the door. The Rathi family, including Sandhya and Sooraj, will celebrate the birth of Sandhya's daughter.
