As part of the campaign #Sandesh2Soldiers, introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, netizens have been sending Diwali wishes and messages to all the soldiers who are guarding the country.
"On the occasion of this festive season of Deepawali, Modi invites citizens to pen their thoughts, their feelings, their sense of gratitude, towards our soldiers. You can send your messages on the Narendra Modi App by giving a missed call to 1922 [sic]," reads the government website MyGov.in.
How and where to wish Indian soldiers?
People can send the wishes and greetings through the government website MyGov.in. Click HERE to send the messages. You can also send the wishes through the official mobile application of Narendra Modi.
MyGov will release selected posts through its social media handles, while Doordarshan and All India Radio will broadcast some of the best wishes. The PM will also read out few of them in his Mann ki Baat on October 30. At the time of reporting, 16,567 people have already wished Indian soldiers the greetings of the lights of festival through the government website.
As part of the campaign, Indian cricketers Virat Kohli, Harbajan Singh, Yuvaraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Mohammad Kaif, and many politicians have also wished the soldiers through their social media handles. "Whenever you see a jawan, salute them. We get to celebrate festivals & live in peace because of them. Jai Hind #Sandesh2Soldiers [sic]," Kohli tweets.
"Aap hai to, hum hai". You are the real heroes. Your patriotism and sacrifice inspires us. Grand salute to our soldiers. #Sandesh2Soldiers [sic]," Olympics bronze-winning boxer Sakshi Malik wishes the Indian soldiers.
