Newly-weds Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim held a grand reception for their industry friends in Mumbai on Monday, February 26. While the pre-wedding ceremonies and Nikaah, which took place in Shoaib's hometown in Maudaha, Uttar Pradesh, was a close-knit affair, the Sasural Simar Ka couple made sure their reception in Mumbai a lavish one.
Both, the bride and the groom looked every bit royal. Dipika donned a golden gown and added charm to her look with a golden veil. Shoaib, on the other hand, sported a red and gold sherwani and teamed it with a golden shawl.
Among the guests who attended the reception were Sanaya Irani and Mohit Sehgal, Gurmeet Chaudhary and Debina Bonnerjee, Bharti Singh and Harsh Limbachiyaa, Sharad Kelkar and wife Keerti, RJ Pritam and wife Amanjot, Surbhi Jyoti, Falaq Naaz, Ratan Rajput and others.
Many of the celebs looked breath-taking in their outfits. Although Sanaya kept it simple in a pink attire, she looked as graceful as ever. Mohit complemented her in a black suit. Sharad too looked dapper in a black kurta pyjama and black waistcoat. However, it was his wife Keerti who looked ravishing in a red and silver traditional outfit.
Bharti Singh couldn't do justice to the beautiful blue dress while Ratan could have chosen a different coloured Banarasi saree. Debina and Gurmeet were color coordinated in black and silver outfits, yet, they should have chosen something better for the evening.
Ahead of their wedding, Dipika and Shoaib hosted pre-wedding ceremonies including 'haldi', 'sangeet' and 'mehendi'. Several pictures and videos from the ceremonies had surfaced online and they were anything but dreamy.
An India Today report said that Dipika converted to Islam for marrying Shoaib and is now called Faiza. However, there is no confirmation regarding her changing name. On the contrary, an elated Dipika revealed her new name to the world on Instagram, "I can see the reflection of Mrs. Dipika Shoaib Ibrahim in his eyes.. and its all I ever dreamt off!!! P.S. @shoaib2087 I love you!!!"
Even as the couple, their families, friends, and fans are happy for the newlyweds, there seems to be some who are not pleased with the inter-religion marriage. In fact, many posted hate messages to Dipika on her Instagram page for marrying a Muslim guy.
