Malayalam actress Samvrutha Sunil tied the knot with Malayali Engineer Akhil Raj in a low-key ceremony on Thursday in Cannanore, Kerala.
The marriage took place at Samvrutha's Cantonment's Vastava Cliff house at 10.30 am on Thursday. Akhil hails from Kozhikode, also known as Calicut, and works as a software engineer in Walt Disney in California, USA.
The ceremony took place in the bride's hometown and the couple exchanged vows as per Hindu tradition in an open air pandal in the presence of family members and relatives.
The bride looked beautiful in an off-white sari decked with gold jewellery, while the groom looked handsome in a knee-length cream coloured silk kurta and mundu.
The wedding was attended by close friends, relatives, and celebrities from Mollywood and few well-known politicians. Directors Lal Jose, Ranjith, actors Ann Augustine, Meera Nandan, Aparna Nair, and former minister P K Sreemathi were among those who attended the wedding.
A grand wedding reception for the newlywed couple will take place on Nov 6 in Meridian hotel in Ernakulam for friends, close relatives and film fraternity.
According to reports, the couple had registered their marriage last year at Arya Samaj to avoid the hassle of getting a visa for Samvrutha. The 26-year-old actress will say good bye to her eight-year-long film career after marriage and will accompany Akhil to California on Nov 21.
Samvrutha made her acting debut in 2004 film "Rasikan" directed by Lal Jose. She starred in more than 30 Malayalam films and in a few Telugu and Tamil films.
