World smartphone leader Samsung on Wednesday (26 June) unveiled the Galaxy S4 LTE Advanced variant in Seoul, South Korea.
JK Shin, CEO and President of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics, at the launch event said, "Samsung maintains a unique position for delivering LTE innovations as a provider of the parts, devices and equipment required to deliver next generation 4G LTE services,"
"The introduction of the GALAXY S4 LTE-A demonstrates Samsung's desire and ability to provide consumers with technological innovations that take advantage of increased network speeds to deliver richer and fuller experiences," he added.
The new Galaxy S4 LTE-Advanced sports a 5.0-inch Full HD (1920x1080p) Super AMOLED display boasting stunning picture clarity thanks to a pixel density of 441 ppi (pixels per inch). It runs on Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS with 2GB RAM, similar to the first Galaxy S4 model which was released in March.
The key enhancements in the new Galaxy S4 smartphone is that it comes with a super fast 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series quad-core processor which can support new 4G LTE-Advanced network connectivity, would allow users to download files from internet with a staggering speed up to 1GB per second and 500 mbps to upload data. This is twice faster than the first Galaxy S4 which has the current 4G/LTE technology that allows maximum data transfer speed of up to 100 mbps to download and close to 50 mbps for uploading files.
Other key features include 32GB inbuilt memory on board along with a microSD slot which further expands it up to 64GB.
Samsung has confirmed that the new 'Galaxy S4 LTE-Advanced' smartphone will be initially released in Blue Arctic and Red Aurora colours in South Korea this summer. It also announced that more colour variants will be released later in the year. Details regarding the smartphone's price and date of availability in other markets are still under wraps.
