Leading smartphone maker Samsung has officially pulled the wraps off its Galaxy Xcover 2. The durable mobile device is the second addition to the Xcover series which is tailor-made for outdoor lifestyle.

The company said that the smartphone is mainly targeted towards adventure junkies who actively take part in outdoor excursions.

Galaxy Xcover 2 sports a rugged shell with a strap holder to protect against accidental drop. The exterior case also work as a dust and water proof shield and is even capable of withstanding water pressure up to a one meter depth for 30 minutes.

Samsung's Galaxy Xcover 2 being an exclusive outdoor smartphone comes pre-loaded with Google map data and GPS+GLONASS which is used to shorten the satellite signal detection by up to 20 percent to track specific locations more accurately.

The rugged smartphone also sports a LED flash next to the main camera. The LED light can also be used as torch. With huge battery capacity the smartphone can run for a marathon 570 hours.

Galaxy Xcover 2 comes pre-loaded with an exclusive Cardio Trainer Pro workout app which helps the user meet fitness goals by creating a tailored training program. The app records the user's track and speed to check progress.

Samsung has not revealed any price details and date of availability of the Galaxy Xcover 2 smartphone. Various reports suggested that the smartphone is expected to hit store shelves by the end of next month.

The previous Galaxy Xcover smartphone was also launched around the same time last year.
