Samsung Electronics expanded its Windows 8 product line-up with the launch of two new Windows 8 running tablets - Ativ Q and Ativ Tab 3, at its Premiere event in London.
Both tablets are powered by Windows 8 operating system and include several innovative new features with the ability to run Android apps. The devices feature an incredibly versatile form factor and extremely thin bodies.
"Busy lives demand convenience, and the convertible nature of these tablets deliver the versatility, mobility and adaptability consumers should expect from personal computing today," said DJ Lee, president and head of sales and marketing office, IT and mobile communications division at Samsung Electronics.
"These tablets are the result of people-centric innovation, and they were designed to provide consumers the flexibility to manage their digital lives on their terms whether they are in the office, at home or on the go," Lee added in a statement.
Samsung claims that Ativ Q is truly a convertible device with the ability to offer users both Windows 8 and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean apps. The tablet not only allows access to Android apps via Google Play but also allows transfer of files and folders from Windows 8 to Android.
The device comes with a 13.3-inch touchscreen display with (QHD+) 3200X1800 pixel resolution, which the company claims is the world's highest resolution tablet ever. The display offers 2.8 times higher pixel density (275ppi) than full HD displays.
Other specifications include Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB DDR3L RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4400, 128GB SSD for storage, 720p HD camera, battery that offers upto nine hours, support for USB 3.0, USB 2.0, HDMI, RJ45 dongle and a micro SD card slot for expanding storage.
The second tablet Ativ Tab 3 is touted as the world's thinnest Windows 8 tablet by the company. The tablet shares the premium design of the Galaxy series and comes with S Pen functionality.
Amongs its specifications are 10.1-inch display with 1366X768 pixel reolsution, Intel Atom Z2760 processor, 2GB LPDDR2 RAM, Windows 8 operating system, 64GB storage which is expandable using micro SD card, 720pHD camera, battery life of up to 10 hours, and support for micro USB 2.0 and micro HDMI.
