Samsung's long reign as the smartphone leader in India finally came to end courtesy Xiaomi's aggressively priced Redmi series in early 2018, but the former hasn't lost much ground and has potential to make come back. Now, reports have emerged that Samsung has already set in motion a new plan to reinvigorate its phone sales with Galaxy M series.
Samsung is expected to kick off the company's 2019 campaign in early January with the launch of three Galaxy M series mobiles in India, reported IANS citing industry sources.
There is no official word with regard to product monikers, but if recent reports are taken as any indication, three phones are likely to be called as the Galaxy M10, M20 and M30.
As the names suggest, the Galaxy M10 will be the low-end model. It is said to feature Exynos 7870 chipset with 3GB RAM, 16GB/32GB storage and one-day battery life.
On the other hand, Galaxy M20 is said to come with 6.0-inch (or more) screen with full HD+ (2340 x 1080p) resolution. Inside, it is expected house Exynos 7885 processor with 3GB RAM, 32GB/64GB storage, 13MP+5 MP dual camera on the back, an 8MP snapper on the front and a massive 5000mAh battery, which will be more than enough to keep the phone running for more than one-and-half day under mixed usage.
As far as the Galaxy M30 is concerned, it is said to come with Exynos 7885 octa-core same as the M20, but comes with better higher 4GB RAM and 64GB/128GB storage capacity. It will boast a dual 21MP back camera and a 16MP front shooter. But, we are yet to ascertain the screen size and battery details.
It can be noted that the upcoming Galaxy M20 will boast Infinity-U display, meaning it will have a small notch on the top housing just the front-camera and rest of the sensors will be hidden below. But, we are not sure how M10 and the M30 will look, but if Samsung uses multiple Infinity screen designs as showcased ad SDC 2018 for the devices, they will be able to differentiate from rival brands.
Going by the specification, the new Galaxy M series has the potential to disrupt the market provided they are priced aggressively. Also, by launching the M10, M20 and the M30 early in January, Samsung will get a head start in 2019 against the rivals.
Just a few weeks ago, Samsung unveiled brand new Galaxy A8s. It boasts Infinity Display-O screen and in all certainty, will be designed reference for most phones slated to come in 2019 similar to iPhone X's notch was for the year 2018.
With the new Infinity Display-O design, Samsung has managed to shrink the bezels like never before. As we can see in the picture, the bezel on the top is completely gone, while the base bezel is trimmed with very less physical space, which makes the Galaxy A8s a unique-looking phone in the industry. The upcoming Galaxy M series will continue the trend in 2019.
