South Korean technology major, Samsung has reportedly begun rolling out the Android v4.3 Jelly Bean update to 2013-flagship smartphone Galaxy S4 in Europe.
Samsung dedicated blog, SamMobile has confirmed that the Galaxy S4 (GT-19505:international LTE variant) owners in Germany have already begun getting the new v4.3 Jelly Bean update and is available via both OTA (Over-The-Air) as well as Samsung Kies PC suite, whereas UK, Italy, Netherlands and other European countries are expected to receive the new update soon.
Three South Asian markets- Hong Kong, Philippines and Singapore are also awaiting the OS update, reported the website.
The update is said to be released in phases and hence it may take few more days (most probably by the end of October) for markets like India and other global regions to receive the new firmware.
Key enhancements seen in Android v4.3 Jelly Bean:
Keyboard and input: The keypad is said to get an improved algorithm for tap- typing, making text messaging less cumbersome. It is also said to enhance gamepad.
Dial Pad: enhanced Auto-complete feature will predict more accurate phone-nmber and names. Users can go to phone settings to enable or disable the option.
Location: Feature will detect hot-spots without turning on the Wi-Fi mode all the time.
Settings: New tab is introduced to let users check which apps are disabled.
Language support: More dialects have been enabled in the new Jelly Bean OS and it can now support Hindi as well.
Graphics: V4.3 will now allow smartphones to support the industry's latest Open GL ES 3.0 graphics.
Network: Bluetooth Smart (Low Energy) support will help the smartphone use less power while transferring data.
Daydream: This new feature will enable users to browse through the photos via easily accessible albums.
Restricted Access: Once updated with 4.3 Jelly Bean, users can create profiles for guest user with restricted access to apps and other contents.
Other improvements which are expected to appear on Galaxy S4 is the new firmware that comes pre-loaded with Samsung Wallet support, Samsung's security app Knox, improved TouchWiz Launcher, enhanced colour reproduction on the screen and an efficient RAM management.
The new firmware will also make the Galaxy S4 compatible with the recently released Samsung smartwatch Galaxy Gear, which up until now was only compatible to Galaxy Note 3 and the tablet, Galaxy Note 10.1[2014 Edition].
In related news, Samsung's 2012 models Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 are also expected to get the new v4.3 Jelly update around late November or early December this year.
