Samsung launches new line of Gear S2, S2 Classic smartwatch series in India

Buoyed by an overwhelming response from the public, Samsung launched the new variants of Gear S2 and S2 Classic smartwatch series in India Monday, March 28. The company has introduced an 18K Rose Gold and Platinum model in Gear S2 Classic series and a snow-white hued regular Gear S2.

The platinum and rose gold variants come with metal plating that encases the dial and buckle. They are complemented by premium leather straps -- ivory white for the rose gold and black for the platinum model.

"Gear S2 is a sleek and smart wearable that enable users to augment and personalise their mobile experience and lifestyle. The introduction of these new variants with additional apps and watch faces will further add to the style and convenience quotient. Samsung Gear S2 is a true testimony to our commitment to provide breakthrough technology to make lives of our consumers richer." Manu Sharma, director of Mobile Business, Samsung India Electronics, said in a statement.

The new Gear S2 Classic rose gold and platinum models cost Rs 34,900, whereas the regular Gear S2 white is priced at Rs 24,300. All the devices are now available at Samsung's retail showrooms across India.

With the introduction of three new Gear S2 models, consumers will now have five Samsung smartwatches to choose from in India -- S2 Classic Black, Gear S2 Classic Rose Gold, Gear S2 Classic Platinum, Gear S2 Black and Gear S2 White.

In addition to the new Gear S2 series smart wearables, Samsung also introduced new dedicated smartwatch apps such as cab services from Uber, G'Nightsleep tracking app, reminder specialistMy Notes in Gear and an all-new YouTube browsing app Xenozu. The company also said the Gear S2 will feature a slew of new games, where-in the rotating bezel on smartwatch dial can be used as a natural game controller.
