Samsung Galaxy S3, the much-hyped and eagerly-awaited Android-based smartphone was finally launched on Thursday, May 3, at Samsung Mobile Unpacked 2012 in London at the Earls Court Olympics venue. Interestingly, as speculated, the makers refrained from experimenting with a new name for the successor of the Galaxy S2.
Samsung is one of main sponsors of the London Olympics 2012. The company posted that its shares doubled in China markets after Beijing Olympics in 2008.
However, ardent Indian smartphone lovers have to wait a while before they get to lay their hands on the next Galaxy. There are reports claiming that the South Korean electronics giant (Samsung) has decided to introduce its Galaxy entrant in the Indian markets around June.
The new Galaxy S3 has been packed with various Gennext features that will defiantly challenge iPhone makers and other rivals as well.
During the launch of the Galaxy S3, the Korean based manufacturer, didn't reveal which US carrier would offer the device. However, speculations of Sprint undertaking the launch of the anticipated handset by the end of this year were doing the rounds.
Sprint has already worked closely with the Korean giant on its last two Galaxy versions, providing Epic 4G in 2010 and Epic 4G Touch last year. Hence, the market is abuzz with rumors that both Samsung and Sprint may team up again for Galaxy S3.
At present there is no official word about a Sprint-specific model. However, the next Samsung Galaxy is expected to run on operator(s) providing 4G LTE network.
