After the much awaited launch of Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) in India last month, the South Korean tech titan unveiled the latest edition in its popular J series. Samsung announced the launch of its budget phone Galaxy J2 Pro on Monday with minor changes compared to the Galaxy J2 (2016). The smartphone will be available exclusively on Snapdeal starting Tuesday for Rs. 9,890.
Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro is equipped with 2GB RAM and a new Turbo Speed Technology (TST), which according to the makers "loads apps up to 40 per cent faster than devices with double the RAM." The feature is also said to "proactively shut down idle processes running in the background" to free up RAM, according to Samsung. The storage has also been doubled in the Galaxy J2 Pro to 16GB as compared to 8GB found on the Galaxy J2 (2016) and also supports microSD cards up to 128GB.
The other notable feature is the next-generation LED notification system, called "Smart Glow." This allows the phone to set color-code for any alerts, ranging from Priority (apps, contacts) to Usage (battery, data, or storage) and Selfie Assist, which will allow users to click framed selfies using the rear camera.
The 4G-enabled smartphone is powered by a quad-core processor clocking speeds at 1.5GHz. Other highlights of the phone include a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED screen, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash and a 5MP front snapper.
The Galaxy J2 Pro runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, supports dual SIM and powered by a 2600mAh battery. The company's proprietary S Bike Mode and Ultra Data Saving mode is also included in the Galaxy J2 Pro.
"Samsung is constantly in the pursuit of bringing meaningful innovation to consumers. The Galaxy J2 Pro with Turbo Speed Technology is designed to provide superior device performance," Manu Sharma, Vice President, Mobile Business, Samsung India, said in a statement. "Furthermore, the Smart Glow feature is an industry first that not only enables automatic rear camera selfies but also provides a fresh new design element and a host of other utility features."
