South Korean technology giant Samsung is expected to launch two smartphones in India this month.
According to Press Trust of India, Samsung will unveil two new smartphones which fall in the sub ₹15,000 price range. The handsets will also offer content and applications in local languages like Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Bengali, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi and Gujarati.
"We will be launching two new smartphones priced for the mid-segment market. Every phone from Samsung will have nine vernacular language options," said Vineet Taneja, Samsung country head (mobile business).
Samsung currently sells 17 handsets priced between ₹5,000 and ₹39,000 in the Indian market. The company added that it will launch more dual-SIM phones in the coming months.
"The competition now in the smartphone market is how to make the phone size small without compromising on the screen size," Taneja said, adding that "Going forward, you will see more and more dual-SIM phones coming up.
Meanwhile, Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Note 3 is scheduled for an official launch in India on 17 September. The company has also started accepting pre-orders for Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear smartwatch with an advance payment of ₹2,000, through its official website. Although the company is yet reveal the price of the new Galaxy phablet, reports suggest that the handset will be priced ₹47,990.
