Samsung Galaxy Tab S2: Slimmest Android Tablet Launched to Face Off Apple iPad Air: Specification, Price

Samsung India on Wednesday launched the Galaxy Tab S2, which the company claims is the slimmest tablet available till date. The new tablet is just 5.6mm thick and weighs only 392g.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 features an impressive 9.7-inch, 1536x2048 pixel super AMOLED display, optimised with 4:3 aspect ratio and is able to deliver 94 percent of natural colour tones. It has advanced screen technology to display bright and natural content for a more comfortable visual experience. Adaptive Display intelligently adjusts the display quality based on the environment and ambient lighting.

Reading Mode modifies the screen's brightness level to help users read content for longer periods of time without straining their eyes.

Under the hood, Galaxy Tab S2 packs a Xyynos Octa-core processor, combines a quad-core processor clocked at 1.9GHz and another quad-core processor with 1.3GHz of clock speed, backed with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage, which is expandable up to 128GB.

Alongside, the Tab S2 comes with an 8MP rear and a 2.1MP front camera. Powered by a 5,870 mAh battery, it comes with all the necessary connectivity features including accelerometer, finger scanner, gyroscope, compass, Hall sensor and RGB sensor. The device runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop operating system and offers GPS and GLONASS also.

Speaking at the launch, Manu Sharma, director Mobile Business, Samsung Electronics said, "We believe the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is the most complete personal visual device designed for consumers to carry and use anywhere. Given our commitment to the Indian market, the Galaxy Tab S2 is another contribution of Samsung to the Make in India campaign. This product will be made in India and made for India."

Priced at Rs 39,400, the Galaxy Tab S2 will be available in three colours, gold, black and white. During the launch period, Tab S2 consumers will get 2GB of 4G data per month free, for two months on Airtel's Network.

In India, the Galaxy Tab S2 comes pre-loaded with Galaxy gifts worth about Rs 31,000 by offering access to latest applications related to news, entertainment & productivity.
