Technology giant Samsung released an affordable Android handset, Galaxy Star Pro, in the Indian market on Tuesday.
Samsung Galaxy Star Pro sports a 4.0-inch TFT WVGA screen with 480x800p resolution and runs on Android v4.1 OS Jelly Bean powered by a 1GHz single-core A5 processor. It packs 512MB RAM and 4GB inbuilt memory which can expanded up to 32GB via microSD slot.
The new Samsung phone flaunts a 2.0-megapixel camera on the rear side and has support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, EDGE/GPRS and micro-USB v2.0 port. It is currently available at e-retailer Home Shop 18 for ₹6,989 and will be made available in retail outlets soon.
The new Galaxy Star Pro will be pitted against Micromax Canvas Viva A72, Karbonn Smart A26 and Nokia's flagship Asha smartphone series.
It is to be noted that new low-cost smartphone is the successor to Galaxy Star, which was released four months ago for ₹5,240. The device packs pretty much the same features as Galaxy Star Pro sans the display size. Galaxy Star flaunts a 3.0-inch TFT screen.
