Talks on Samsung's upcoming flagship smartphone dubbed as the Galaxy S8 have started now that the much-awaited Galaxy Note 7 has been released. Nothing much about the device has been leaked, but reports are suggesting that it will have several feature upgrades over its predecessor, the Galaxy S7, including the camera.
The South Korean technology giant hasn't revealed anything about its upcoming Galaxy S8, but if one is to go by its tradition, it should come in the first quarter of 2017. It may come in March by the time the Galaxy S7 completes a year cycle in the market.
It is reported that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will feature dual-rear camera – a 12MP S5K2L2 sensor and a 13MP sensor made by Sony – at the rear, and an 8MP front-snapper. If turns out to be true, it will be a significant upgrade over the 12MP main camera and 5MP front-snapper seen in the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy Note 7.
According to research firm UBI, the Galaxy S8 will sport a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen with 4K display (806 ppi pixel density). It is also expected to come with an iris scanner feature that is seen in the recently released Galaxy Note 7.
It may mentioned that the Galaxy S7 sports a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 1,440x2,560 pixels (577 ppi pixel density). Under the hood, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, 32/64GB internal memory expandable up to 128GB via microSD card, 4GB RAM, and a 3,600mAh battery. The device also mounts a 12MP main camera with f/1.7 aperture, 26mm lens, phase detection autofocus, OIS, LED flash, 1/2.5" sensor size and 1.4 µm pixel size, and a 5MP front-snapper with f/1.7 aperture and 22mm lens.
