Samsung's plans to unveil new flagship devices next year is no secret. But the handset's specs, designs and features have been a point of interest for hundreds and thousands of fans out there. Nothing official has been revealed about the Galaxy S7 series but recent leaks have offered a much-needed closure at Samsung's 2016 flagships.
In an exclusive leak on Wednesday, Gizmo China shared some photographs of the first Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Plus cases. With these images, we are able to take a closer look at the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Plus devices.
The cases designed for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Plus reveal the exact design of the unreleased handset. If true, the changes seen in these new images are very much in line with earlier leaks. The Galaxy S7 and its plus size variant in the new pictures are seen with a rectangular home button, protruding camera sensor on the rear and looks almost identical to the current Galaxy S6.
The volume rocker keys are located on the left side of the device and the power/lock button sits on the right. All the ports, including the 3.5mm headphone jack and microUSB or USB Type-C port, are placed at the bottom along with the speaker grill, the report adds.
Sadly, there were no images showing the Edge variant of the Galaxy S7, which is expected to be launched alongside the two Galaxy S7 models in February. Also, there is no indication whether the Galaxy S7 series will sport a microSD card slot, which was not included in the Galaxy S6. But earlier reports have strongly hinted at the inclusion of expandable memory in the Galaxy S7.
Besides, there have been several rumours suggesting unique features such as pressure sensitive screen, retina scanner, fast charging tech, and most advanced chipset, which is going to be either Exynos 8890 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processors depending on the markets.
Samsung is expected to hold Galaxy Unpacked event on 21 February, ahead of the MWC 2016 conference in the same month. At the event, the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Plus and Galaxy S7 Edge are expected.
