In about few hours from now, Samsung will pull the wraps off the much awaited Galaxy S7 series in Barcelona.
Going by the numerous rumours reported on Galaxy S7 features in the recent past, the upcoming phone is expected to come with major upgrades in terms memory, camera, battery and build quality over its predecessor Galaxy S6 series.
To provide a better perspective on Galaxy S7, we have sifted through multiple reports and lined up a set of key features, which are likely to make the cut in the new Samsung phone.
Display:
Recently leaked images have indicated that the upcoming Samsung phones series will have minor changes in terms of outlook design compared to the predecessor. Both Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will have the same curved metal-glass fused body. The key difference is that the company, in its bid to increase durability of the new devices, has incorporated water-proof coating on them. Even the Samsung Mobile teaser released earlier this week suggests the same.
Another change we expect in Galaxy S7 series is that Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will have different screen sizes. The former model is said to sport 5.1-inch screen, whereas the latter will come with bigger 5.5-inch display. Both will boast QHD (2560x1440p) resolution.
Processor, RAM and storage:
Based on leaked benchmarked results, Galaxy S7 series is almost confirmed to come in two variants based on the region of sale.
Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge bound for western markets like Europe and America are expected to house Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 quad-core SoC (System-on-System), whereas in other regions, the Samsung phones are said to come with company's proprietary Exynos 8890 Octa-core CPU.
As far as memory features is concerned, all models of Galaxy S7 series are expected to come with 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage with option of expansion via micro SD card.
Camera:
In 2015, critics and fans heaped praise on Galaxy S6 for its camera and this year Samsung is said to be taking it a notch up in Galaxy S7's camera.
Word on the street is that the company has incorporated a 12MP snapper with F1.7 aperture, which allows more light to get absorbed by the lens to get high quality images in Galaxy S7 series.
In the front, it is expected to house 5MP wide angle camera with full HD video recording ability.
Battery:
Though Galaxy S6 series was praised for camera and build quality, Samsung was panned for using a modest 2600 mAh battery, despite incorporating power guzzling QHD screen.
In 2016, Samsung is said to bump the battery capacity in Galaxy S7 model to around 3,000mAh.
If the leaked Federal Communication Commission (FCC) document is to be believed, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is expected to house a 3,600mAh battery.
Mobile Operating System:
Samsung is certain to come with Android Marshmallow OS as it is a flagship phone series. Previous Galaxy S series phones came with latest software available at that time of release.
