Launching their flagship smartphone Galaxy S6, Samsung has thrown a big challenge to the existing premium smartphones including HTC One M9 and Apple iPhone 6.
Featuring a complete design overhaul, Samsung has focused on making each aspect stronger than its competitors.
Although Samsung launched their Galaxy Note 4 at the same time as Apple launched its iPhone 6 plus, the latter sold in record volumes for its key features. The Apple evangelists still think iPhone6 is the best smartphone money can buy.
But Samsung's latest flagship smartphone packs so many features inside that even a hard core Apple evangelist need to think twice before making a choice between these two. Following are the features of Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge which can make the Cupertino based smartphone Manufacturer jealous:
Design Overhaul
Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge features a complete design overhaul by using metal and gorilla glass, making the devices sexier and sturdier than it's plastic backed predecessors. Both the devices feature better quality metals and sturdier glass protection than iPhone 6.
The phones also use Gorilla Glass 4 protection, which is way tougher and sturdier than the Gorilla Glass 3 featured in iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Samsung's phones also offer several colour variants to impress the fashion conscious consumers.
Better Processing capability
Looks alone cannot satisfy the consumers. Samsung has featured the latest 3GB LPDDR4 RAM sticks on both the phones. The latest RAM chip gives double speed in comparison to a similar volume LPDDR3 RAM. The LPDDR4 also provides double bandwidth and consumes 10% less voltage, resulting at least 2/3rd less power consumption than the LPDDR1 RAM and 1/3rd less power than LPDDR3 RAM chipsets. In comparison iPhone 6 and 6 Plus features 1GB LPDDR3 RAM memory.
Galaxy S6 also features Samsung's own Exynos SoC processor, based on 14nm architecture, which is way better than the 20nm based SoC processor featured in iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
Camera
Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are equipped with a 16MP rear and 5MP front camera. The F1.9 aperture lenses and high resolution sensors can provide the superior image quality even in the dark. In addition the existing Auto Real-time High Dynamic Range (HDR), Smart Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and IR Detect White Balance features provide advanced light sensitivities and crisp camera solutions.
On the other hand, Apple iPhone 6 Plus features a 8MP OSI camera with Dual LED flash and a sensor size of 1/3-inch. Recently, a Reddit user posted an image comparison between both the smartphones' camera. The comparison clearly shows that the Samsung camera outperforms in low light photography with crisp quality and ample amount of colour and brightness level.
Wireless Payment
Samsung has launched their payment system with Samsung Galaxy S6. Named as Samsung Pay, the payment system is secure and works with NFC free stripe card readers. Naturally Samsung pay will have more access than the Apple Pay, which is a NFC-based system. Alike Apple Pay, Samsung Pay also require fingerprint scanning for each transaction.
Charging
Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge come with built in wireless charging capability, hence users can charge their S6 devices wirelessly using any charging pad. Both the devices feature fully embedded WPC and PMA certified wireless charging technology. Thus, they are able to work with any wireless pad available in the market that supports WPC and PMA standards. On the other hand, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus skips the wireless charging ability.
Fast Charging
Samsung has also adapted fastcharging ability with both the phones. Samsung claims the decvices has 1.5 times faster charging capability than Galaxy S5, providing about 4 hours of usage after only 10 minutes of charging. On the other hand, Apple's both the smartphone takes around two to three hours for charging the phone.
