Samsung Electronics has the tradition of releasing its Galaxy S series smartphones between February and May, so speculations were doing the rounds that it would unveil its upcoming flagship smartphone dubbed as the Galaxy S6 during this time of the year. However, latest report has suggested early launch of the device though not confirmed.
It was earlier reported that the Galaxy S6 would be unveiled at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC 2015) in March like its predecessor, the Galaxy S5, which was announced at the same event last year.
However, a new report has suggested that the next-generation smartphone would come earlier than expected, hinting a possible announcement early next year.
A Korean online publication called Chosun Biz (via GforGames) reported that analysts at Mirae Asset Securities (MAS) believe Samsung could unveil the Galaxy S6 as early as first week of January during the Consumer Electronics Show 2015 (CES 2015) in Las Vegas. They are also of the opinion that the South Korean electronics giant would release another Galaxy S6 model with a dual-edged display in the line of galaxy Note 4 Edge.
Both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are expected to be pushed out early with an aim to boost Samsung's mobile phone business. Analysts at MAS have predicted the Galaxy S6 shipment for 2015 at 45 million, and the Galaxy S6 Edge at 10 million.
Meanwhile, several features of the Galaxy S6 have been leaked over the last few weeks. According to AnTuTu benchmark, as reported by Mobifo (via SamMobile), the SM-G925F, which is believed to be Galaxy S6 European version, is powered by an octa-core 64-bit processor and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop. It is said to have a qHD screen with 1440 x 2560 pixels, and a 15.9MP camera.
However, earlier AnTuTu benchmark details of the Galaxy S6 revealed by Chinese website CNMO (via Phone Arena) claimed that the device would be powered by an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor, run on Android 5.0 Lollipop and come packed with a 32GB of internal memory and 3GB RAM. It is also expected to sport a 5.5-inch display with 1440 x 2560 pixels, and a 20MP main camera and 5MP front snapper.
