The long-rumored Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphone specifications have surfaced online ahead of the speculated March launch.
Technology blog BGR citing reliable sources have got hold of the document containing the key features of the Samsung's upcoming 2015 flagship smartphone.
According the website, Galaxy S6 will boast 5.1 super AMOLED QHD (aka 2K: 2,560x1,440p) screen, not 5.5-inch as previously reported.
This new report is mostly likely to turn true because Samsung already sells a separate flagship phablet category Galaxy Note series with 5.5-inch plus screen, it would be unwise for the company to merge two handset categories. If Galaxy S6 comes with a 5.5-inch screen, it will cannibalise the Galaxy Note 4 sales and affect the company revenues.
Other expected features of Galaxy S6 include 64-bit class based Octa-core (brand not known) processor which is expected to be 50% more efficient than the predecessor.
Early this week, Bloomberg, citing sources inside Samsung, reported that the company faced over-heating of the Snapdragon 810 chipset during the test run of Galaxy S6.
To keep things less complicated, Samsung has reportedly decided use the proprietary Exynos Octa-core series processor for the Galaxy S6. This is a smart move by the company because if Samsung goes ahead by incorporating faulty chipset in Galaxy S6, it runs the risk of getting negative publicity.
What if the over-heating issue crops again when they reach the hands of the consumers? This will certainly dent company's image and will hurt the prospects of arresting the declining profits since the early 2014.
So it will be good for Samsung to go ahead with Galaxy S6 launch with right components in place and later launch the Snapdragon variant a little later in the year after a thorough testing.
Galaxy S6 is also said to house 20mp camera on the rear side, a 5mp snapper with f/1.8 aperture on the front, 32GB/64GB/128GB memory, 2,550mAh battery and Cat 6 4G-LTE network support.
Though the report is running wild on the Internet, Samsung is yet to respond to the speculation. Word on the street is that Samsung will showcase the Galaxy S6 at the upcoming MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2015 in Barcelona.
