Samsung's much-anticipated Galaxy S5 smartphone, which is rumoured to debut in March, will reportedly come in two variants.

Samsung's dedicated community website, SamMobile, citing reliable sources has confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy S5 will come in two variants - one with a metallic cover costing €800 (around ₹67,000) and the other in plastic that would be priced €650 (around ₹54,600).

Both Galaxy S5 models are expected to flaunt a 16.0-megapixel main camera, Super AMOLED screen with QHD (2K) 2560x1440p display resolution (probably 5.25-inch size) and come with Android v4.4 KitKat OS. However, Samsung is expected to use two CPU variants - one with Snapdragon 805 chipset in plastic model and the 64-bit architecture based Exynos 6 Octa-core CPU for the metal variant.

The website said that Samsung's new Exynos series processor will be compatible with 4G/LTE radio, unlike previous generation chipsets which were only used in 3G models. Other key details such as RAM, battery capacity or the much-talked about Iris scan feature are yet to be ascertained.

Apart from Galaxy S5, Samsung is also contemplating to release two more variants - Galaxy S5 Zoom and Galaxy S5 Mini, in May and June respectively. Both models will have Super AMOLED display but with lesser resolution. Their internal hardware components are also expected to be stripped down similar to Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom and Mini smartphones of 2013.
