World smartphone leader, Samsung today (11 April) officially released the company's 2014 flagship handset Galaxy S5 across the globe (125 regions), including India.
The new phone is available for purchase both at online stores and local brick-and-mortar stores in India for ₹51,500. Samsung is also offering 15-percent cash-back offer to Citibank consumers who pre-book the Galaxy S5 for ₹1500 and pay the remaining amount before 13 April. (cash-back will be credited to customer's Citibank account by 15 July, 2014).
Samsung Galaxy S5 sports 5.1-inch full HD (1920x1080p) super AMOLED screen with pixel density of 440 ppi (pixels per inch) and runs on the latest Android v4.4.2 KitKat with TouchWiz UI.
Galaxy S5 is bulkier than its predecessor with very little change in the design language and features perforated rear shell. Though it looks a bit awkward in terms of visual aspect, the dimpled back-cover certainly helps users get a good grip over the phone compared to Galaxy S4, which had smooth shiny surface, causing the phone to slip out of users' hands.
In India, Galaxy S5 (SM-G900H) model runs on the Adinos Prime 2 processor (1.9GHz quad-cores + 1.3GHz quad-cores+ XMM6360) and supports only 3G network, unlike the 4G-LTE international models, which run on 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 series quad-core CPU.
The smartphone marquee features include finger-print sensor (on home button), water-and-dust resistant body (IP67 certifications), heart-rate monitor (below camera module), download boaster, fifth generation Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac HT80, MIMO (2x2)) faster wireless data transfer, 0.3-second superfast auto-focus camera feature, and a 2800 mAh battery with Ultra Power Saving Mode can run the phone for 390 hours under standby mode.
