Less than a month after its global release, Samsung Inc's popular selling Galaxy S4 smartphone is continuing to receive an overwhelming response across the globe, according to a new report.
Galaxy S4, which was one the most anticipated smartphones of the year, seemed to have lived up to expectations. A report from Korean website ChosunIlbo said the South Korean company has confirmed the success of its latest offering.
According to the report, Galaxy S4 has been crowned Samsung's fastest selling Galaxy smartphone till date. Apparently, the company has sold over six million units of the handsets in the first two weeks after its international debut. Around four million in Galaxy S4 sales were registered in the first five days.
"As of the end of April, we supplied four million Galaxy S4 handsets to telecommunication operators around the world," the ChosunIlbo website quoted a source as saying. "As of Friday, we have sold more than 6 million units, and we predict that we could break the 10-million mark by as early as the end of this month."
The Galaxy S4 smartphone which was unveiled at Radio City Music Hall, New York City, on 14 March was released worldwide on 26 April. It sports a 4.99-inch 1920x1080 pixel Super AMOLED display with 441 ppi and runs on Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS.
The device features a 13.0-megapixel primary camera and a 2.0-megapixel pixel front-facing camera. Among its new features are Smart Scroll, Smart Pause, Samsung WatchON and S Voice Drive. It comes in three storage options - 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.
