Samsung Galaxy S4 Launched in India for ₹41,500, to Feature Exynos 5 Octa-Core Processor

After its global unveiling on 14 March, Samsung Galaxy S4 was officially launched in the Indian market on Friday. The launch event had begun at 12 noon in Kingdom of Dreams, a cultural theme park in Gurgaon. 

Sales of Galaxy S4 (16GB) has already begun at Samsung India eStore for ₹41,500 with special accessory bundle free for first 400 buyers. Select stores across the country are also expected to receive Galaxy S4 stocks. Reliance Digital and Tradus.com have reportedly begun taking pre-orders for Galaxy S4. Other online shopping portals such as Flipkart and Saholic have listed the hotly-anticipated phone on their website, but are yet to begin sales.

With an unusaully low price tag set for Galaxy S4, Samsung is set to dent the sales prospective of its rivals - Sony Xperia Z (₹37,800), HTC One (₹42,900) and Apple iPhone 5 (₹45,500) in India.

Display: Galaxy S4 sports an impressive 5.0-inch Full HD Super AMOLED screen with 1920x1080p display resolution and pixel density close to 441 ppi (pixels per inch).

Processor: Indian consumers will be pleased to know that the Galaxy S4 variant will come shipped with the company's in-house built Exynos 5 Octa-core processor. The Exynos 5 chipset will house two quad-core processors- a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor and the other a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor for efficient use of power enabling longer battery life.

(Galaxy S4's 1.9GHz quad-core processor variant is expected to sell in the US and other select markets.)

Camera: Samsung's new flagship smartphone houses a 13.0-megapixel rear camera and a remarkable 2.0-megapixel front camera with a face-recognition based smart camera software.

One of the striking features of Galaxy S4 is Samsung's exclusive camera features like 'Smart Scroll' and 'Smart Pause'. With this, users can do away with the need to flick the screen up or down to view content.  

Galaxy S4's 2.0-megapixel front camera tracks facial movements to scroll through an email text or browse internet. And if the user looks away while watching a video, the smartphone automatically pauses the video and resumes playing when the user reverts back to the screen.

Mobile Operating System: Galaxy S4 will run on Android's latest mobile OS v4.2.2 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box.
