The hype around Samsung's latest offering Galaxy S3 ahead of its launch was huge. The only question on the minds of the people was whether it will live upto the expectations and hype.
Nobody knows how well Samsung Galaxy S3 will do in the market but it looks like the South Korean electronic giant has won half the battle with the critics giving rave reviews. Some reviewers even rank Samsung Galaxy S3 above Apple's iPhone 4S.
Critic Gareth Beavis of Techradar thinks Samsung Galaxy S3 is the best smarpthone on the market.
"Samsung Galaxy S3 is the best smarpthone on the market. It's got every kind of feature we could ask for and more, and raises the bar once again in terms of what consumers should be expecting in terms of battery life, processor speed and media management," he wrote.
He thinks S Voice and Smart Stay are not impressive but thinks it's better than iPhone 4S. "And if you're thinking about picking up an iPhone 4S: forget it. You'll need to wait to see what response Apple is Cooking up with the iPhone 5 as a 3.5-inch screen and the same high price tag it launched with are no longer acceptable," he wrote.
"If you've been waiting feverishly for the new Samsung Galaxy S3, you will not be disappointed. It's fast, it's sleek and it packs the latest technology that will get your pulse racing," he concluded.
The Daily Mail said in its review that Samsung Galaxy S3 is way ahead of Apple's product. "We like the look of the Galaxy S3 from the front, with its simple design, curved corners and metal trim. However, the glossy plastic back really puts a damper on things - it just doesn't exude class or luxury," it said, adding, "In terms of the user experience, the fluidity of operation, the feature set, and in virtually every area that counts, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is light years ahead of Apple's profitable darling."
Natasha Lomas of CNET is of the opinion that Samsung Galaxy S3 will give competition to iPhone.
"The Samsung Galaxy S3 is the Ferrari of Android phones, with a gorgeous 4.8-inch 720p resolution display, an impossibly slim and light casing and a quad-core engine that goes like stink. This super-premium phone is very expensive, and the more you push it, the quicker it guzzles battery juice. It's certainly not a phone for everyone, but expect it to give the iPhone a good run for its money," she wrote in her review.
Sharif Sakr of Engadget is also impressed with Samsung Galaxy S3.
"The best thing about the Galaxy S III? That it's more than the sum of its parts. Individually, the slightly larger and better display, stronger processor and faster camera may not sound that special, but in daily operation they score major combo points: gathering up all the best bits of the older Galaxy S II and re-working them into a solidly modern (read: mid-2012) device. The power- and storage-hungry Android user simply cannot go wrong with this purchase, and neither can those looking for a great camera," he wrote.
"The worst thing about the GS III? No matter how hard it tries, it just isn't greater than the sum of the HTC One X's parts. That's not to say it falls short, but merely to emphasize that times have changed since last year's Galaxy S II, which landed on an unsuspecting world that was largely devoid of predators," he added.
David Phelan of T3 wrote: "For Android lovers, it's hard to fault the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the only other handset to come close is the HTC One X - and it comes very close. The S III wins out for features and innovations. But, be warned, it's going to be too big for some hands."
"The S3 is a mighty big phone that's powerful, feature-packed and exceptionally desirable," he added.
Alastair Stevenson of V3 is of the opinion that polycarbonate chassis feels cheap and S Voice is not impressive but didn't fail to heap praises on Samsung's Galaxy S3.
"Samsung's Galaxy S3 is one of the best Android handsets on the market and easily outclasses almost all of the competition, boasting quad-core processor technology, a bright and vibrant display and the best camera seen on any Samsung smartphone to date," wrote Stevenson.
Samsung Galaxy S3 was first launched in Europe on May 3 and then hit other countries. The Android-based smartphone, which is priced Rs 43, 180, was released in India on Thursday.
