When smartphone makers are struggling to sell their products, Samsung Electronics is reportedly facing a strange problem - supply shortage of its latest smartphone Galaxy S3.
The reports of Samsung Galaxy S3 supply shortage came just on the heels of the announcement made by the South Korean firm that it is expecting the sales of the smartphone to touch 10 million in the first two months of its launch.
Sources said that a manufacturing glitch has caused shortage, which in turn affected its sales in some European countries. It is reported that there was delay in delivery of some pre-ordered phones in the United States due to supply shortage. And this hiccup may cost Samsung Electronics about 2 million units of sales in just a month.
"Samsung might have been caught off guard by the demand, not because they did not believe in their own products, but because they might have over-estimated the competition," Reuters quoted Gartner analyst Carolina Milanesi as saying. "In other words, aside from the iPhone and HTC's oneX there's not much out there at the moment, which would have certainly helped Samsung."
Samsung Electronics has announced that it expects the sales of its latest smartphone Galaxy S3 to top 10 million in July, whioch would make it the company's fastest selling smartphone. The prediction came just a few days after a consumer from Ireland claimed that the battery of his Samsung Galaxy S3 exploded behind his car.
Samsung Electronics launched its flagship smartphone Galaxy S3 last month and has received good response from gadget lovers all over the world. It also got rave reviews from reviewers.
