Technology giant Samsung on Wednesday (9 October) finally pulled the wraps off the world's first flexible display smartphone, Galaxy Round.
The new smartphone sports a 5.7-inch super AMOLED full HD (1920x1080p) curved display having pixel density of 386 ppi (pixels per inch) and runs on the Android v4.3 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box.
Under-the-hood, it packs specifications similar to those seen in the recently released Galaxy Note 3. Galaxy Round features a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Series CPU, Adreno 330 graphic engine, 3GB RAM and is said to come in 32GB and 64GB storage variants wiht microSD card slots (up to 64GB). The back cover comes with a faux leather finish.
Galaxy Round houses a 13.0-megapixel main camera and a 2.0-megapixel secondary camera. On the connectively front, it features Bluetooth v4.0, USB v3.0, NFC, Wi-Fi and LTE-A.
Key features of Curved Display UI include:
- Roll Effect allows the user to check date, time, missed calls, text messages, just by the tilting the curved smartphone to the side without having to unlock the screen.
- Gravity Effect creates visual interaction with the smartphone by tilting the screen.
- Bounce UI enables the user to control the smartphone's music player while the display is off. He/she just have to press the right side of the device to go to next track or press the left side to go back to the previous track.
- Side Mirror allows the user to gain easy access to the list of albums just with a left or right tilt.

The new curved display smartphone (Luxury Brown variant) will go on sale in South Korea for 1,089,000 Won (approximately ₹62,945) on 10 October. Details regarding the global launch of Galaxy Round are still under wraps.
