It's becoming difficult to differentiate between Samsung Electronics' Galaxy S and Note series, especially the Note edge variant, with screen size of the devices almost getting even over the years. Apart from that, flagship devices from these series share almost identical specifications, and this trend has made one to think if the upcoming Galaxy Note 6 will have similar features of the just announced Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.
The Galaxy Note 5 received lots of flak when it was released last year, not because of lack of innovation but because of its uncanny similarity to the Galaxy S6 edge+. The only notable difference between the two devices was the stylus seen in the Galaxy Note 5, and fans didn't take it well.

Will history repeat? We don't know, but if it does, a look at the just unveiled Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge should give us a hint of what to expect from the upcoming Galaxy Note 6. Samsung may avoid repetition of the Note 5 mistake, but one still can't rule out the possibility.

Here are specifications of Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge:
The Galaxy S7 has a 5.1-inch QHD super AMOLED display with 2,560x1,440 pixels (577 ppi pixel density) and a 3,000mAh battery with Fast Charging technology on both wired and wireless, while the Galaxy S7 edge sports a 5.5-inch QHD super AMOLED display with 2,560x1,440 pixels (534 ppi pixel density). Other than this, the devices share the rest of the features.
Under the hood, the devices have a Samsung Exynos 8890 processor for one model and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 for the other model, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, a 32GB/64GB internal memory (expandable up to 200GB via microSD card) and a 4GB RAM. It also house a 12MP camera with f/1.7 aperture and Smart OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and a 5MP front-snapper with F/1.7 aperture.
So, will Galaxy Note 6 come with these features seen in the Galaxy S7?
A Weibo user HG_VISION (via PhoneArena) has claimed in a post that the Galaxy Note 6 will sport a 5.8-inch Slim RGB AMOLED display with 2,560x1,440 pixels, contradicting earlier reports that it will have a 5.7-inch screen. It went on to say that the device will come packed with a 64GB/128GB internal memory, a 6GB LPDDR4 High-Speed RAM and a 12MP camera with "Super O.I.S. Plus."

But may be it's too early to draw a conclusion on the features of the next-generation Note device. The new device is expected to be unveiled in August like its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 5.
