Expectations on Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is huge and the hype around it has gained momentum with its release date drawing close, but leaked images of its case renders have unearthed a big surprise – it may have to discard two useful features seen in Note series in the past.
Galaxy Note 5 would be launched in August, according to a report by South Korean website Sogi (via GSM Dome) but earlier reports have suggested that it could see the light of day only in September. It may be mentioned that the South Korean electronics giant has the tradition of unveiling its Note devices at IFA event. This year, the annual event will kick off in Berlin on 4 September.
Now, images of case renders supposed to be that of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 have been leaked and French website nowhereelse.fr has obtained them. The upcoming device may look very similar to the recently released Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge with "aluminium frame, glass back, upgraded fingerprint sensor, bottom edge speakers and the more angular lines of the S6's superb camera," according to Forbes.
The new Note device may come with significant feature upgrades over its predecessor, but the leaked images could leave many Samsung fans disappointed for more reason than one. The use of glass-back would mean that the microSD card slot will be discarded while the battery will not be removable.
Samsung fans might lament removal of microSD card slot even if the device comes with a huge internal memory, as Note device users are so used to expandable memory. Non-removable battery also would mean that users can't replace battery even if it wears out. And Galaxy Note devices are known for high consumption of battery due to large display and high screen-resolution.
It is still not confirmed whether the leaked images are that of Galaxy Note 5 or not, but many will take it seriously, as Nowhereelse, a blog that published the information, had correctly revealed that designs of the Galaxy S6 and Apple's iPhone 6 in the past.
According to reports that have surfaced so far, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is expected to sport a 5.4-inch or 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display, powered by Exynos 7422 processor, come packed with 16GB internal storage, 4GB RAM and a 16mp camera. It is also reported that patent filings of the company has hinted introduction of automatic ejectable S-pen and foldable display features in the device.
