Samsung Electronics is tight-lipped on the release date of its upcoming next-generation phablet dubbed as Galaxy Note 4 but a new report has hinted a late launch, claiming that it would see the light of the day just a week after Apple Inc. unveils its flagship smartphone, iPhone 6.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is expected to be launched on 25 September, according to Korean publication News Tomato. It claimed that several stakeholders of the electronics giant have stated that the mass production of the device would start in June and July.
Interestingly, Apple Inc. is expected to unveil two models of iPhone 6 - 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch – on 19 September, just a week ahead of Galaxy Note 4's arrival. The larger model of iPhone, which is expected to have a 2272 × 1280 (510ppi) resolution display, scratch-free sapphire crystal glass screen and powered by a 20-nanometer A8 chip (64-bit), is being touted as Samsung phablet's main rival.
It was earlier reported that Samsung Galaxy Note 4 might be announced at a press preview ahead of the annual IFA trade fair in Berlin, Germany to be held between 5-10 September and to be sold in a bundle package with Samsung Gear 2 successor. Android Geeks reported citing an insider that the device would be unveiled on 3 September and the invitation to the Unpacked event would be sent out in mid-August.
Despite conflicting reports, it looks like Samsung Electronics will announce Note 4 at the upcoming IFA trade fair like its predecessor Note 3 before releasing it in the market on 25 September.
The next-generation device is expected to sport a 5.7-inch super Amoled display with a 2560 x 1440 resolution (500+ppi) with a flexible display. It may run on the latest Android 4.4.3 KitKat OS or Android 4.5 Lollypop, which is yet to be released and comes packed with 3GB RAM.
According to AnTuTu benchmark listings, Samsung may release two versions of Galaxy Note 4, one to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 that features Krait 450 (300MHz-2457MHz) CPU and Adreno 420 GPU, and the other with Exynos 5433 8 Core processor that has ARM Mali-T760 GPU. It was earlier reported that the much-hyped device would have a Quad Core Snapdragon 805 processor that clock at 2.5GHz.
The device may have a 16MP rear camera with ISOCELL technology, 4K video recording and a 2MP front cam with 1080p video recording and S-Pen stylus with updated gestures and air command, according to Samsung4Note website.
