Amid speculations on the release date of Samsung Galaxy Note 4, a new report has emerged that the South Korean electronics giant is planning to lower the camera specifications of its upcoming next-generation Note series device and introduce picture quality enhancement features instead.
The much-awaited Galaxy Note 4 may come with a 12MP camera but with optical image stabilization (OIS), according a report by G4Games (via ETNews). The move may surprise many as predecessor Galaxy Note 3 has a 13MP camera with autofocus and LED flash.
The report came a few days after AnTuTu benchmark claimed that Galaxy Note 4 would have a 16MP rear and a 3.6MP front camera. Samsung4Note website had earlier reported that the device would have a 16MP rear camera with ISOCELL technology, 4K video recording and a 2MP front cam with 1080p video recording. There were also reports that Samsung might upgrade the camera of the upcoming device to 20MP.
It should be noted that Samsung is known for increasing the pixels of cameras in new devices. Galaxy Note 3 has a 13MP camera as compared to its predecessor's 8MP camera. The cameras of Galaxy S series also saw consistent increase in pixels with Galaxy S3 sporting a 8MP camera, which was raised to 13MP in Galaxy S4 and then to 16MP in Galaxy S5.
Galaxy Note 4 is expected to sport a 5.7-inch super Amoled display with a 2560x1440 resolution (500+ppi) screen. It is also reported that the device might come with a flexible display though it is not yet confirmed.
There were reports that the device might have a Quad Core Snapdragon 805 processor that clocks 2.5GHz, would come packed with 3GB RAM as seen in its predecessor Note 3 and run on the latest Android 4.4.3 KitKat OS or even Android 4.5 Lollypop, which is yet to be released.
The South Korean electronics giant may release two versions of Galaxy Note 4 - one to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 that features Krait 450 (300MHz-2457MHz) CPU and Adreno 420 GPU, while the other with Exynos 5433 8 Core processor that has ARM Mali-T760 GPU, according to AnTuTu benchmark listings. Samsung4Note also reported that the device will feature S-Pen stylus with updated gestures and air command.
