Samsung Electronics' recently unveiled flagship device, the Galaxy Note 4 is expected to witness a 34% price drop just three months into its release, and about 44% after completing a year in the market, according to a study.
The Galaxy Note 4, which was unveiled at the Unpacked event on 3 September, is currently priced at £600 ($920). It is all set to hit the stores in South Korea and China on 26 September before making it available in several other countries next month.
Idealo, which provides price comparison service, has forecast based on a price analysis of previous models of the Samsung Galaxy range that Samsung's next-generation device could become a lot more affordable after three months of its release.
"A hefty drop in price can be expected for recently-announced Samsung Galaxy Note 4 – particularly within the first 3 months of release," said a report by idealo.
The comprehensive data of price decline available with the website has revealed that "prices fall more rapidly with each new model."
"While the price for the first Galaxy Note was still 92% of the starting price after 3 months, its successor was available for 87% of the initial release price after 3 months. The price drop for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was even more notable: after 3 months, the price had dropped to just 75% of the introductory price," according to the study.
The website went on to say that based on the price trend of various Samsung devices, it can predict the price decline of the Galaxy Note 4 to 66% in three months and to around 56% after a year of run in the market.
However, idealo stated that "the prices quoted in the study are based on click rates" on the website and that the current price is recorded every time a user clicks on a product. "Based on these recorded clicks, idealo has calculated the average price of each Galaxy models for each month," it said.
