The upcoming Samung phablet Galaxy Note 3, which is expected to make its debut early next month, is expected to feature a camera with Ultra HD 4K resolution video recording ability.
The Korea Economic Daily has claimed that Samsung's third generation Galaxy Note would sport a high-end camera capable of taking Ultra HD 4K (3840x2160p) videos, more than twice the current full HD (1920x1080p) resolution standard and will also be able playback high-quality 24-bit/192KHz audio files.
The new report has generated a huge debate among the global tech blogs who are voicing their doubts over the authenticity of the claims. Many believe 4K video recording feature will not be feasible in a smartphone due to memory capacity constraints. Even recording a few seconds of high quality video takes lot of storage space, and it require users to own an expensive 4K television (prices ranging from ₹3.5 lakhs to ₹25 lakhs per set in India) set at home to watch the video.
Samsung's rival Sony is also rumoured to launch the smartphone Honami aka Xperia Z1 capable of recording 4K videos. The report regarding Sony's new handset is more believable as it will house a 20.7 megapixel main camera boasting of exclusive patented technology G-Lens and BIONZ image processors which are only seen in DSLR cameras, whereas Galaxy Note 3 will reportedly sport a 13.0-megapixel camera with Xenon flash, not fancy enough to be able to take ultra HD videos.
According to reports, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is expected to sport a 5.7-inch super AMOLED full HD display and run on the latest Android v4.3 Jelly Bean OS with 3GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt memory. It will be sold in two variants - one will be powered by 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series processor and another by Samsung's very own Exynos 5420 Octa-core processor. Indian market is expected to get the second model.
