Samsung is under the spotlight these days by introducing its latest gadgets in different parts of the world, on a regular basis.
After Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Gear smartwatch, Galaxy Round with curved screen and Galaxy J, the tech firm has now released a 4-minute long promo of the latest Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition), which is an upgrade on the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2012 version).
The promo has revealed most of the specifications of the tablet which promise a list of bumped up specs over 2012 version. Following is the comparison of Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) and Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2012 version).
Design
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) is understood to have a much sleek profile and is more portable than other tablets. The device seems to have eliminated the plastic or metal rear case and, instead, has been covered by a soft cloth stitched delicately with, what seems like, the metal bezel.
The device has a smaller bezel frame than the Note 10.1 (2012 version). The tablet is thinner than its previous iteration, making it light weight. The upcoming tablet also sports a Menu, Home and Back button on the bezel, unlike the 2012 version that has no buttons at all.
Screen and Display
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition): Super Clear LCD Screen with 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution and 299 ppi.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2012 Version): PLS TFT Screen with 800 x 1280 pixel resolution and 149ppi.
Memory
Both tablets come in 16/32/64GB in-built memory variants and supports microSD card up to 64GB.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2012 Version) has 2GB of RAM as compared to 2014 Edition's 3GB.
Camera
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition): 8 megapixel rear camera and 2 megapixel front-facing camera.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2012 Version): 5 megapixel rear camera and 1.9 megapixel front- facing camera.
Processors, OS and CPU
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition): Runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS and is powered by Snapdragon 800 processor. The GPU for 3G model is not known but the LTE version sports the Adreno 330. The CPU varies with the 3G and LTE version.
3G: 1.9GHz quad-core Cortex A15 and 1.3GHz Cortex A7
LTE: 2.3GHz quad-core Krait 400
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2012 Version): Runs on Android 4.0 IceCream Sandwich, upgradable to 4.1 Jelly Bean and is powered by Samsung Exynos 4412 processor with 1.4GHz quad-core Cortex CPU. The graphics are handled by Mali 400MP GPU.
Battery
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition): Features a non-removable 8220mAh Li-Po battery.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2012 Version): Features a non-removable 7000mAh Li-Ion battery.
Price
Price is yet to be confirmed, however, GSM Arena states the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) will come with a price tag of around $550 approx. (410 EUR). The price carried by Galaxy Note 10.1 (2012 version) is $500 approx.
