While Samsung is busy countering the problem of battery explosion in its latest flagship, the Galaxy Note 7, the world's biggest smartphone maker isn't giving in to the pressure by altering its plans. On Friday, the company started sending out media invites for the launch of a new Galaxy J-series smartphone in Gurgaon on Monday, 19 September.
The invite reads "Get Ready for the Prime Time!" and features a large letter J made of binary digits. The invite further reads, "Join us as we unveil the next in J-Series, now more proficient, protected and power-packed than ever." According to BGR India, which posted the invite, Samsung will start the event at 11:30am on Monday.
The invite doesn't directly mention the Galaxy J7 Prime, but that's not really a surprise. However, there are sufficient clues that pretty much confirm that the Galaxy J7 Prime is set to make a debut at the upcoming event.
Earlier this month, Mumbai-based retailer Mahesh Telecom claimed the Galaxy J7 Prime will be launched at Rs 18,790 and bear a maximum retail price of Rs 19,400, which seems reasonable when matched with the handset's actual specifications.
Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime succeeds the Galaxy J7 (2016) edition and comes with a fingerprint scanner integrated within the home button, a Full HD (1080p) resolution display, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage and an upgraded 8MP front camera. The rest of the specs in the Galaxy J7 Prime are almost similar to that of the Galaxy J7 (2016).
The Galaxy J7 Prime features a 5.5-inch display with a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 4, a 1.6GHz octa-core processor, a 13MP primary camera with f/1.9 aperture and LED flash, and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS. The handset also supports dual SIM cards, microSD cards (up to 128GB), 4G LTE and has a 3,300mAh battery that runs the show.
