Expectations from Samsung's upcoming Galaxy J5 (2016) are high after the success of its predecessor, released last year with the same name. The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge may be the flagship devices from Samsung, but the upcoming mid-range smartphone should do well in developing and price-conscious markets like India.
The South Korean technology giant hasn't revealed the specifications of the Galaxy J5 (2016), but GFXBench leaks have suggested it will have several feature upgrades over its predecessor. Let's have a look at how the device will stack up against the 2015 version of the Galaxy J5:

Display
The Galaxy J5 (2016) is expected to sport a 5.2-inch display with a 1,280x720 pixel (282 ppi pixel density) resolution, while its predecessor had a 5-inch Super-AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 720x1,280 pixel (294 ppi pixel density) resolution. If the details listed on GFXBench turn out to eb true, the 2015 version of the Galaxy J5 will have a sharper display while its successor will have a bigger screen — 0.2-inch bigger to be precise.
Hardware and software
Reports that have surfaced so far have suggested the Galaxy J5 (2015) and its successor will share the same hardware and software — a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, an Adreno 306 GPU and the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system. Both devices are expected to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

Storage
The Galaxy J5 (2016) is expected to come packed with 16GB internal memory and 2GB RAM, while its predecessor had 16GB internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card) and 1.5GB RAM.
Camera
The 2015 version of the Galaxy J5 housed a 13MP main camera with LED flash and f/1.9 aperture, and a 5-MP front-snapper with 85-degree wide-angle lens. The Galaxy J5 (2016) is also expected to come with cameras similar to its predecessor but with a better sensor.
The Galaxy J5 (2016) is expected to be launched in June as its predecessor complete a year cycle in the market by this time. It has passed the Bluetooth SIG certification and has been spotted on Zauba, a website that keeps track of imports and exports in India, with a price tag of Rs 17,031. However, it may be noted that the actual price of the device when it is launched can be different. Its predecessor was priced at Rs 11,999 at the time of its launch.
