Samsung has finally revealed its next iteration of Galaxy Grand tipped as Galaxy Grand 2 in India, which has some bumped up specifications over its predecessor and would be available from January 2014.
Similarly, Nokia also revealed its Lumia 1320 handset recently, which is considered as one of the best smartphones to compete with Galaxy Grand 2 regarding specifications and value for money.
Following is the head-to-head comparison between Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 and Nokia Lumia 1320:
Display
Both the smartphones sport a 720p (720 x 1280) resolution display. However, Nokia Lumia 1320 has an edge over Galaxy Grand 2 as the former sports a 6in IPS LCD capacitive screen with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and a ClearBlack display. The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 only sports a 5.25in TFT capacitive touch screen. Since Galaxy Grand 2 has a smaller screen, its pixel density (280ppi) is a little more than Lumia 1320 (245ppi).
Memory
Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 and Nokia Lumia 1320, both feature an 8GB in-built memory storage which can be bumped up to 64GB via microSD support. Galaxy Grand 2 can handle the multitasking feature a little better due to its 1.5GB RAM as compared to Lumia 1320's 1GB, as mentioned in the official Nokia Lumia 1320 specification page.
Camera
Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 wins over Nokia Lumia 1320 as the former features an 8 megapixel rear camera as compared to Lumia's 5 megapixel. Samsung has also included a 1.9 megapixel front-facing camera whereas Lumia settles for a VGA camera.
OS and Chipset
Samsung Galaxy Grand operates on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, even though the latest Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS has been rolled out. However, it might update the handset soon.
Nokia Lumia 1320 on the other hand features the latest Microsoft Windows Phone 8 OS with the latest Lumia Black update, which is yet to roll out to other Lumia handsets.
Lumia 1320 also has an upper hand when it comes to processors. Lumia 1320 features a dual-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 processor whereas Samsung's official Galaxy Grand 2 page states the device to feature A7 1.2GHz quad-core processor.
Connectivity
The connectivity features are almost the same in both the handsets but a major point of difference between the two is that Lumia 1320 supports 4G LTE data connection while the Galaxy Grand 2 settles for 3G.
Battery
Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 features a decent 2600mAh battery which is still far behind from Nokia Lumia's massive 3400mAh battery capacity eliminating the need to charge the handset by some extent.
Price
Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 is said to be priced between ₹22,900 and ₹24,900 in India, which is quite affordable . The prices for Nokia Lumia 1320 is yet to be revealed, however, FoneArena speculates the price to fall around ₹23,000 making it budget friendly.
The Android lovers can buy this handset during the upcoming holidays, while the ones who want to shift to Windows Phone ecosystem along with a better smartphone processor, display and 4G connectivity, can shell out some more money to get their hands on the latest Nokia Lumia 1320.
