South Korean technology giant Samsung has rolled out its next Android smartphone called Galaxy Fame in India for ₹11,120.
Consumers in India have been anticipating the launch of the Galaxy Fame smartphone ever since its unveiling in February. The handset was listed on various e-retailers' website from Wednesday.
Despite the smartphone's making an appearance on Samsung's official India website, the company was reluctant to reveal the price of the handset. The retail-price of the newly launched smartphone seemed to be a bit too high considering the range of similar smartphones in the market.
Regarding its specifications, Galaxy Fame sports a 3.5-inch HVGA display and is powered by a 1GHz processor. It runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and packs 512MB RAM along with 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card.
The dual-SIM smartphone measures 11.6mm thick and weighs 120 grams. It packs 1,300 mAh battery which claims to deliver six hours of talk time and 300 hours of standby time. In terms of its image shooter technology, the smartphone come with a 5-megapixel auto focus camera and a VGA front camera. Its connectivity features include 3G, dual-SIM card slots, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.The top contender for Galaxy Fame is Sony Xperia E duos smartphone.
Earlier this week, Samsung had launched its Galaxy Young smartphone in India for ₹8,010. The device packs a 3.27-inch display and is powered by a 1GHz processor. Other features of the phone include Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 728 MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 64GB and a 1,300mAh battery.
