New images of the long-rumored top-end device Samsung Galaxy F - aka Galaxy S5 Prime - has surfaced online, revealing the metal casing of the smartphone.
Technology blog PhoneArena has got hold of a couple of alleged images of Galaxy F. In the pictures, the phone is seen flaunting a shiny brushed metal casing, with camera module and dual LED flash, on the rear side. On the front (top), the device flaunts two sensors on right, camera on the left and the 'Samsung' brand name below the speaker grill, and at the bottom, we see the ominous home button at the centre.
The rear side of Galaxy F is similar to Galaxy S5, sans the perforated surface texture. The only anomaly on the front is that the former houses the camera on the left side, while the latter flaunts the camera on the right. [To view the photos, click here]
Is the Samsung phone shown in the leaked photos actually Galaxy F/Galaxy S5 Prime?
Though the website claims the phone shown in the photo boasts a metal casing, it is hard to conclude that the glossy finish on the back is metal; it might even be a polycarbonate-based body, laced with shiny anti-scratch material coating, like we saw in the recently unveiled LG G3.
And as far as the QHD display is concerned, there is no sufficient evidence to prove that the unreleased Samsung phone has a 2560x1440p screen. But one thing is certain - this device is new. Numerous reports have hinted there is a possibility that Samsung is keeping the device (premium top-end Galaxy F) for a late launch to take on archrival Apple, which is slated to announce big-screen iPhones (4.7-inch and 5.5-inch) in September.
Word on the street is that Samsung is likely to release the new phone initially in home market South Korea. Some models - SM-GS906S and SM-GS906K - believed to be the Galaxy S5 Prime/ Galaxy F variants of telecom networks - 'SK Telecom' and 'KT Telecom' had landed in India in April, for testing at the local R&D facility.
Galaxy F aka Galaxy S5 Prime is understood to boast a 5.2-inch 2K (2560x1440p) display and ship with the yet-to-be released Android update v4.4.3 KitKat.
Other expected specifications include 3GB RAM, 32GB memory, a 16.0-megapixel primary camera (with OIS, ISOCELL) and a 2.0-megapixel front camera. The phone is expected to come in two CPU variants - one with new Octa-core processor (Exynos 5430) with 2.1GHz quad-core Cortex A15 CPU & 1.5GHz quad-core Cortex A7 CPU backed by 600MHz Mali T6XXX graphics engine, and another variant with Snapdragon 805 series quad-core chipset with Adreno 420 GPU.
Though reports of Galaxy F is running wild on the internet, Samsung is yet to comment on the rumors. And until the company decide to come out and clear the air, these reports will remain has pure speculation.
