Samsung Galaxy E7 that has been running on Android 4.4.4 KitKat has finally received Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA (over-the-air) update (E700HXXU1BOJ7 PDA) after months of waiting, bringing a big relief to the owners of the device.
The latest version of Android Lollipop came to the Galaxy E7 (SM-E700H) in India a few days after it was rolled out to the device (SM-E700F model) in Sri Lanka.
It was a disappointment for the Samsung Galaxy E7 owners as their device didn't get the 1-year old firmware despite the Galaxy E5 having got the update about two months ago. It was even reported that the device may not get the firmware update at all but those with SM-E700H model have now reported that their handsets have received Lollipop.
The Samsung Galaxy E7, which was released in February this year, came running on Android 4.4.4 KitKat. It also sports a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 720 x 1280 pixels (267 ppi pixel density), Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, 16 GB internal memory expandable up to 64 GB, 2 GB RAM, 13 MP main camera, 5 MP front snapper and a non-removable Li-Ion 2950 mAh battery.
How to install Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA on your Samsung Galaxy E7:
NOTE: The update is not supposed to erase any file from your device but it is safer to backup data. It is also advisable to download the new software only when connected to Wi-Fi.
Users of Samsung Galaxy E7 should ideally get Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update notification when they are connected to Wi-Fi or Internet.
The firmware can be downloaded by selecting download option before pressing 'Install' option. The device will restart automatically once installation is done and the software will start running.
One can also manually check the availability of new software by going to â€" 'Settings' >> 'About phone' >> 'System update' >> 'Check For Update'.
