Samsung has launched the Galaxy C5 and Galaxy C7 from the newly-floated C series in China, and it was reported that they would not be released in other markets. However, a new report has claimed the devices will be released in India. It seems to hold water, as a device with the model number SM-C5000, believed to be the Galaxy C5, has been spotted on Zauba, a website that tracks imports and exports in India.
Website RTN has reported, citing distributor sources, that the South Korean technology giant is planning to release the Galaxy C5 and Galaxy C7 in India. It didn't reveal the exact launch date but has claimed the Galaxy C7 could come with a price tag of Rs. 30,000, while the Galaxy C5 could be priced at around Rs. 26,000.
The Galaxy C5 costs 2,199 yuan (around $335/Rs. 22,500) for the 32GB variant, and 2,399 yuan (around $365/Rs. 24,500) for the 64GB model in China, while the 32GB version of the Galaxy C7 is priced at 2,599 yuan (around $396/Rs. 26,600), and the 64GB is 2,799 yuan (around $427/Rs. 28,600).
Samsung is yet to reveal the Indian pricing of the devices, but if reports are anything to go by, they will have to compete with the just-launched OnePlus 3 in the Indian market. The OnePlus 2 successor, which has received critical acclaim for its specifications, is priced at Rs. 27,999.
The Galaxy C5 has a 5.2-inch Full-HD Super-AMOLED display with 1,920×1,080 pixels (424 ppi pixel density), an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor, an Adreno 405 GPU, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, 32GB/64GB internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card), and 4GB RAM. It also has a 16MP main camera with f/1.9 aperture, an 8MP front-snapper with f/1.9 aperture, and a 2,600mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
The Samsung Galaxy C7, on the other hand, sports a 5.7-inch Full-HD Super-AMOLED screen with 1,920x1,080 pixels, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The device also has 32/64GB internal memory (expandable up to 128GB), 4GB RAM, a 16MP main camera with f/1.9 aperture, an 8MP front-snapper with f/1.9 aperture, and a 3,300mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
