Specifications of the long-rumored Galaxy Alpha surfaced online just weeks ahead of the launch, giving insight in to the upcoming Samsung smartphone.
German technology blog, All About Samsung has got hold of the Samsung device, a prototype - code named SM-G850F, which is believed to be the Galaxy Alpha. Using the AnTuTu Benchmarking app, they managed to reveal the internal specifications of the device.
Samsung Galaxy Alpha reportedly houses HD (1280x720p) display with a pixel density of 320 dpi (dots per inch), Exynos 5433 Octa-core CPU (ARM v7), Mali T628 GPU, Android v4.4.4 KitKat, 2GB RAM, 32GB inbuilt memory (no microSD card support), 12.0-megapixel camera (with dual-LED flash), 2.1-megapixel snapper on the front with full HD video-recording ability.
Though the leaked features are in-line with the previous reports, it has to be noted that this device is a prototype, which are produced for testing, so there is chance that some specifications might change in the final product.
The new Galaxy Alpha is said to be Samsung's first smartphone to boast significant amount of metal usage in its construction and is also expected to pack finger-print sensor like Galaxy S5, but the phone is not classified as a flagship device, as previously reported.
It is said to fall in the range of mid-level and high-end segment and is reportedly launched to compete with Apple's upcoming 4.7-inch iPhone 6, which is expected to get launched this fall.
If the rumored features of Galaxy Alpha turns out to be true, the Samsung phone can sway some price-sensitive consumers away from the premium Apple device.
Word on the street is that Samsung does want to launch Galaxy Alpha as earliest as possible, probably in mid-August (on 13 August, courtesy SamMobile), so that there is enough time for the Alpha wave to subside before the company's much-awaited fourth-generation Galaxy Note, takes the centre stage in around September first week.
